Ammonite Knives

I had the chance to meet Tim, Owner of Ammonite Knives, (http://www.ammoniteknives.co.uk/knives.html) and review one of his knives, The Field Mouse. Every element of the knife is crafted by Tim in his workshop.

Well, what can I say about this little knife?? It has proven to be a fantastic tool, while foraging in woodland, grassland and the beach/rivers, in all weathers.

Made from high quality cmp 154 stainless steel, with a Micarta handle. It has shown that it is very well made and can handle what I’ve thrown at it. Also the knife comes with a leather sheath (also made by Tim) which is a superb fit and quality, which came with a handy paracord lanyard, as well.

I highly recommend Ammonite knives (Tim) and would say if you were to buy a Field Mouse or one of his other knives, you will NOT be disappointed.

I can see the field mouse lasting a life time, following the “knife care sheet” supplied.

UPDATE

The field mouse is still proving to be a very efficient, robust, very well made piece kit. It has been in the woods, the sea, the dirt and the sand, collecting various flora and fauna.

The edge has held up well and only needed a little work to bring the edge back to life. The sheath and handle are still perfect, although a little grubby. (my own doing) 🙂

I still highly recommend one of these knives, for the purposes of foraging and skinning. This little wonder of a knife goes with me every where and I’m sure it will continue to do so, for many years to come.
